What our readers say.
This is a cracking seafaring adventure. It is historically and geographically accurate where applicable but does not lose the quality of being a good "boys' own" adventure story.
The creation of characters and description of sailing vessels has the ability not common with all authors of bringing the events to life.
I have the distinct impression that if I were to meet any of the characters in my "local" I would recognise them immediately.
Roll on the next tale!
The story is set in the seventeenth century, but not as you have seen it before. David Penhallion a young Cornish man, together with an experienced sea captain and a wealthy budding politician have a series of adventures culminating in a stormy sea voyage, to a hellish place, where no one has ever been.
A terrific adventure set in Cornwall, London and the depths of the southern ocean. It is a tale of love lost and found, of storms, mutiny, murder, revenge and treachery.
Throughout the story, a strange apparition of an old seafarer, although terrifying, saves David from a horrible death on several occasions. The ship was close to being overwhelmed by the raging sea, when David saw the apparition, pointing with his crooked finger...
They discovered a small island, deep in the southern ocean, which was alive with strange creatures. He was running for his life, for he could hear the deathly clicking behind him...
